Adobe markets Flash as being cross platform.

But, because many sites now require Flash 8 Player to see content, it's not *really* cross platform anymore, since Linux users are being cut out of that content.

So, either Adobe needs to insure Linux is supported with newer versions. Or, they need to change their marketing so that Linux is not shown as a supported platform.

As recently as last month, I sent a note to a site with a Flash based product that claimed Linux was supported. This product required Flash 8 Player, and yet the developers apparently didn't realize that Flash 8 wasn't available for Linux yet.

What they used claim:

"Cross platform - Windows/Macintosh/Linux (requires Flash 8 or higher)."

How this same page reads now (after I sent a note to them about it, pointing out that it was false advertising to claim Linux is supported):

"Cross platform - Windows/Macintosh (requires Flash 8 or higher)."
